Home, Car Burnt to Ashes: Tips Needed

Maryland State Fire Marshall's Southern Regional Office is investigating a fire in La Plata, in the 7000 block of Bumpy Oak Road on Oct. 29 around 1 a.m.

Firefighters from Bryans Road, La Plata, Marbury and Potomac Heights responded to the address after a neighbor discovered the flames in a 2006 Dodge Stratus and an abandoned single story residence.

According to the state fire marshalls, unknown suspect(s) parked the vehicle next to an abandoned structure and intentionally burned the vehicle. The vehicle fire spread to the adjacent structure causing extensive damage. The estimated total loss is $15,000.
