Maryland State Police have released a Uniform Crime Report for Southern Maryland. This preliminary report was collected between January and June of 2008. SOUTHERN MARYLAND REGION CRIME INDEX TRENDS (Includes Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s Counties)

Statistics presented here are based on information provided by law enforcement agencies to the Maryland Uniform Crime Reporting Program.
Crime in the state of Maryland increased three percent in the first six months of 2008 compared to 2007 as measured by the Crime Index Offenses. Violent Crime increased less than one percent. This group consists of murder, forcible rape, robbery and aggravated assault. Property crime increased four percent. The composition of this group is breaking or entering, larceny-theft and motor vehicle theft.
