HUNTINGTOWN - 11/12/2008
|
Despite the current economy and upcoming holidays, this past month, local citizens and businesses worked together to donate to a good cause. On Nov. 8, the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department held their first Coats for Kids Clothing Drive, to benefit needy children in Calvert County. Huntingtown VFD opened their doors at 10 a.m., this past Saturday and were able to graciously distribute approximately 400 coats and pieces of winter clothing to needy children. All of the remaining coats were donated to a local charity that afternoon. The Huntingtown VFD would like to personally thank Owings Thrift Shop, Prince Frederick Walmart, Tidewater School, Primetime Daycare and of course the citizens of Calvert County. This event would not have been possible without the help of Lori Kerns and the Ladies Auxiliary. Huntingtown Volunteers are grateful the coat drive was a success and thankful to have made a difference in several children's lives. |
