Polar Plungers Dash to Splash
HISTORIC ST. MARY'S CITY - 2/4/2009
|
You’re invited to witness local college students as they plunge into the frigid St. Mary’s River for the 3rd Annual Polar Bear Splash. Participants will gather near the new James P. Muldoon River Center along Route 5, St. Mary’s City. The Polar Bear Plunge is an event that started in 2007 as an effort by the college’s Student Environmental Action Coalition (SEAC) to raise awareness of climate change and global warming. Participants will line up along the waterfront and rush into the water, trying to rescue a “polar bear” on a kayak before returning to the shoreline to warm up. |
