Heroic 4-Year-Old, Credited with Saving Mother's Life

The Charles County Commissioners recognized 4-year-old Waldorf resident, Samantha Mason, for her courage and bravery on Tuesday afternoon Nov. 16.

Mason is credited with helping to save her mother’s life. Samantha knew how to dial 911 in an emergency situation, and was able to communicate with the 911 dispatcher until help arrived.

The Commissioners also recognized 911 Dispatcher, Jaime Ostrander for her ability to keep Samantha calm throughout the call and wait for emergency personnel to arrive.

During the special recognition the Commissioners proclaimed November to be American Diabetes Month in Charles County. Representatives from The Maryland Foundation for Quality Healthcare were recognized for their work with diabetes prevention and education.

They don't say that it was a problem with diabetes, but they do say, "Representatives from The Maryland Foundation for Quality Healthcare were recognized for their work with diabetes prevention and education."
So, I think its safe to assume, it was something to do with diabetes.

PROUD MOM
Many thanks to all of you for your very positive comments. I am the proud mother of Samantha. There are no holes........I am diabetic.
Unfortunately, I was placed on medication that kept dropping my blood sugar. After complaining to doctors, family members and friends about how bad I would feel, everyone said,"your body has to get used to it". Well, after I got so sick, both of my doctors agreed that I should not take the medication but instead, take another route of treatment.
Lastly, I taught my daughter to diall 911 at the age of 2 because my Mom is very sick. NEVER did I think my daughter would be dialing 911 for me. NEVER! Again, thank-you for all of your kind words and the 911 dispatcher will ALWAYS have a place in my HEART!

This is the most amazing story/event that i have heard in my life. God Bless Samantha, the mom, and the dispatcher involved. Kudos to the mom for teachin samantha at a young age how to make an emergency phone call. God Bless! ! !
