Charles County Sheriff Rex W. Coffey said officers have arrested two 17-year-old males in connection with 22 vandalisms which recently occurred in the Pinefield and Carrington neighborhoods of Waldorf.

On January 16 at 11:30 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s Officers R. Johnson, R. Williams, L. Elliot and Sgt. J. Stoddard responded to an address on Garner Avenue and a residence on University Drive for the report of vandalisms in which unknown suspects shot out the windows of cars with a pellet gun.

While processing the scenes, the officers were notified of similar vandalisms throughout the area. They canvassed the neighborhoods and located a person who provided them with a tag number of a possible suspect vehicle. Officers identified the vehicle owner and, after further investigation, subsequently linked two teens to the crimes.

In all, 22 cases were reported. The suspects, one from Port Tobacco and the other from Waldorf, were arrested on January 17 and charged with 22 counts of destruction of property.

The Sheriff’s Office is reminding residents to report suspicious activity immediately. “A citizen’s tip in this case was instrumental in quickly identifying the suspects and solving these crimes,” said Sheriff Coffey.
