State Trooper Shot, Killed in Forestville

Maryland State Police are investigating the death of one of their own.
A Maryland State Trooper was shot and killed Friday, June 11 outside of an Applebee's Restaurant in Forestville.
Trooper Wesley Brown, 24 of Capital Heights, was a a 3 1/2 year veteran of the police force and had been assigned to the Forestville barracks.
Police say trooper Wesley Brown was off-duty, working as a part-time security guard when he escorted a disorderly patron from the restaurant into the parking lot over an unpaid bill. At some point the suspect produced a weapon and shot Trooper Brown several times.
Trooper Wesley Brown was transported to Prince Georges Hospital Center where he later succumbed to his injuries. .
A large perimeter has been set up in the area to search for the suspect who is considered armed and dangerous.
Police say there were many patrons inside the Applebee's at the time of the shooting and they are asking anyone who may have information that could lead to an arrest to contact Prince Georges County at 1-866-411-TIPS.
Commuters in the area should expect delays due to several road closures as a result of this investigation. Donnell Drive is closed between Pennsylvania Ave. and Marlboro Pike. Also, northbound Pennsylvania Avenue is closed at Forestville Road. The southbound lanes of Pennsylvania Avenue are closed at Walters Lane.
