Taekwondo Instructor Accused of Child Sex Abuse with 14-Year-Old Student

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office recently conducted an investigation into the report of sexual child abuse and solicitation of child pornography in which the suspect, Charles Arnell Smith, Jr., 25, a taekwondo instructor and owner of Global Sport Taekwondo in Waldorf, is accused of soliciting explicit photographs from a 14-year-old girl who had been a student of his at the academy.
Further, it was discovered Smith had taken the girl to his house on at least one occasion for the purpose of engaging in sexual conduct. The incidents began in February 2010 and were discovered by the girl’s mother in June 2010. On July 14, a district court commissioner issued a criminal summons in lieu of arrest for Smith.
