On October 26 at 4:46 p.m., officers responded to the 6400 block of Michele Court in Bryans Road for the report of three large dogs attacking a woman. When officers arrived, a passerby had rescued the woman by pulling her in his truck.

Officers searched the area and learned the dogs ran toward a wooded area. As officers began to establish a perimeter and warn residents to go inside, the dogs suddenly emerged and charged at them. The officers, fearing for their safety, discharged their firearms striking all three dogs, fatally wounding one. Another dog was transported to an emergency clinic and the third dog ran off.

The woman was transported to a nearby hospital where she was treated for several bites. Officers located the owner of the dogs who said the dogs were actually a Presa Carnio breed and trained as “security” dogs and were known to be aggressive.

The owner was unable to say how the dogs escaped his premises.

Animal Control is handling any further investigation.

***NOTE*** The dog pictured above is not the actual dog involved in the attacks. The picture is a generic photo of the Presa Carnio breed.
