Port Tobacco's Timmy Hill to Compete in Rolex 24 at Daytona
Daytona Beach, FL. - 1/27/2012
By Andy Marquis
Port Tobacco teenager Timmy Hill, 18, will compete in the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona this weekend. Hill, who won rookie of the year in the NASCAR Nationwide Series last November, will race a Rick Ware GT entry.
Hill beat out Blake Koch to win the prize. Earlier this month, Koch was also signed to Rick Ware Racing to race in the Nationwide Series as a teammate to Timmy Hill. Timmy’s younger brother, Tyler, also competes in legends with Rick Ware Racing. Last November, Tyler won the Allison Legacy Series championship.
The 24 Hours of Daytona is a 24 hour endurance race sanctioned by the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series. The race takes place on the road course at the Daytona International Speedway where it has been run since 1962. During the race, drivers will swap the seat with other drivers. Hill’s co-drivers are Jeffery Earnhardt, John Ware, Chris Cook and Doug Harrington.
The majority of the Rolex 24 at Daytona can be seen on SPEED on cable, from 2:30pm-11pm EST on Saturday and concludes Sunday from 9am-4pm EST. The entire event can be seen live online at SPEED.com. The Cook/Earnhardt/Harrington/Hill/Ware combination will roll off 35th overall and 23rd in class.
