UPDATE:
Around 7:20 P.M. on Monday, May 7, crews from Hughesville VFD were dispatched for the motor vehicle collision at the Charles County and St. Mary's County line on Three Notch Road. Immediately following dispatch, the assignment was upgraded for reported subjects trapped and a vehicle on fire. As crews arrived on location on the south end of the Hughesville bypass, they began patient care, extinguishing the vehicle that was engulfed in flames, and stabalizing the truck on its roof. As units continued to respond, it was determined that all three patients would need to be flown to a trauma center do to their injuries. The collision caused major traffic delays due to both north and south bound lanes being closed during the incident followed by a police investigation.
Responding Companies included Hughesville VFD, Benedict VFD, Waldorf EMS, Dentesville VRS, Mechanicsville VFD, and Mechanicsville VRS.
