Friday afternoon at 1:56 pm, Leonardtown Companies 1 and 19 weredispatched for a motor vehicle accident involving three vehicles in front of MeStar St. Mary’s Hospital on Point Lookout Road.

Chief 1 arrived on the scene 1:56 pm and reported 1 transport, 4refusals and to hold the assignment with the squad only.

Squad 1 arrived on the scene at 1:58 pm and began to clean up the vehiclefluids and assist with patient care.

Ambulance 198 arrived on the scene at 2:04 pm and began patient care oftwo patients.

The vehicles were moved off the roadway into the hospital entrance andall units cleared the scene at 2:17 pm with Ambulance 198 transport twopatients priority 3.

I just hate.......
it when a yellow car is leading to close to the car in the read. Hopefully they did not damage their tag registration sticker.

When is enough, enough?
Close the hospital entrance down all together, put a traffic light at Moakley Street and let all emergency vehicles enter that way and go to the hospital. That way it will help the residence and businesses on Moakley Street as well and reduce the number of accidents. It's too bad that it will take someone to be killed before they do anything!Why can't we be Proactive instead of Reactive?

Honestly,
I was in this accident. In the third car back. We didn't even have time to stop due to the last minute decision. The cop didn't even ask our side of the story. And my mom hasn't been in a car accident with us, and it isn't like we were distracted. She didn't even have the radio on. And we were already slowing down to go to modern nails, the next shopping center up. They definitely need to put a light up for when people decide to come to an immediate stop and have people behind them. Someone could have gotten seriously hurt.

Yes, something needs to be done!
Shutting down the hospital entrance on 5 is a good idea. There shouldn't be any left turns allowed (especially from 3pm to 5pm) in that stretch. If nothing else, put in a center turn lane.Just yesterday, I had someone come to a screaming halt, with no turn signal, and make a left had turn. I hate that area but, of course it is my way home from work. Again, it comes down to drivers not slowing down, paying attention and just common curtesy.

would be for all drivers to obey the speed limit through this area. Is it 40 or 45? Most often I see people doing 55 through this area. That may not seem that big of a difference but 5-10 m.p.h. can make a huge impact when you are trying to stop quickly. Stop being a distracted driver and be a little more courteous. If you are doing the speed limit you should have time to stop, even for the mindless idiots that forget they are making a turn somewhere, fail to use turn signals, and stop on a dime.
