Calvert County Maryland Law Enforcement Torch Run

On Tuesday, June 5th, officers and members of the Calvert County Sheriff's Office, the Calvert County Detention Center, the Maryland State Police Barrack “U” Prince Frederick and other Maryland government agencies, will be out in full force, running and cycling to continue the relay of the flame for the Maryland Law Enforcement Torch Run, benefiting the Special Olympics. The Torch Run relay ensures the flame is protected until it is delivered to the waiting hands of the athletes on Friday, June 8th at the opening ceremony of the Southern Maryland Summer Games held at Towson University in Towson, Maryland.
The runners and cyclists of Calvert will begin their part of the relay at the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office at 8 am before trekking to Calvert High School to meet with children. The team of runners and bikers will then be transported to Solomons Island and officially began at 9:00 a.m. The Torch Run will head north along Md. Rt. 4 finishing in Prince Frederick at the OutBack Steakhouse Restaurant after a 20 mile hike.
