rambocast 8/10/2012 at 11:30 AM NO SURPRISE This rhetoric from Tea Party supporters and associates should not come as any surprise. As I recently posted, "fact check" press releases issued from Steny Hoyer and compare them to Tony O'Donnell's remarks. All O'Donnell knows how to do is attack, mislead, exaggerate, obstruct, and offer little in what he would do if elected. Steny is generally constant, polite, and measured in tone. In spite of what rabid haters will say, Hoyer ACTUALLY HAS worked diligently and honorably on behalf of the 5th district. I do not want a congressperson who is only talented in throwing stones. I attended a Tea Party rally once to witness their conduct, I nearly had to jump in the river in order to contain myself after hearing the terrible lies and words directed toward Hoyer, assorted Maryland legislators, and Obama. With the rise of the Tea Party and the election Of Obama, we have seen hate groups and rhetoric double in size and intensity. I'm sick of this disgusting crap! Reply to This Comment

Please tell us about abuse of the Constitution, or your version of the Constitution. Is it similar to attempts being made to block women's Constitutional rights to abortion or to voting (Ohio is a good place to start)? Actually "CConnection", hopefully with the Affordable Care Act, more people will be able to access mental health services. Just think, it could result in one less terrible mass murder - imagine that!

It doesn't reduce cost or improve services. It requires you to have insurance. Now whos benefits from that the insurance companies! Mental Health is available for those that need it and healthcare is available, it is call Health Services of St. Mary's County. How is a Mass Murder is going to get health services any different from today? You still have to seek help to get help. You act all high and mighty saving future generations when Obama has put them in more debt than any President. You need a reality check!

Not only by the feds, but also state and local. Why don't you call the Mental Health Services of St. Mary's County and ask them how flush they are with funding and brimming over with staff? And it so easy to get counseling or meds. to assist with mental health needs. Tell us more. You need the reality check, because you apparently don't have a clue about the ACA and what it is already offering. Go do your homework because you just received a failing grade for not studying. Obama has cut more than any other president preceding him. Unfortunately, he inherited two wars and a prescription plan that were unpaid for, among other things. You are incredibly naive if you think the government can just stop spending, it doesn't work that way. And unlike Mr.Ryan's unrealistic budget plan, Obama is unwilling to throw seniors and the middle class (and the poor) under the bus. The ACA will benefit everyone, and yes, including insurance companies considering most people will still have a free market to choose from. Contrary to popular Tea Party belief, this is not a socialized insurance plan.

A five-member panel appointed by President Obama to oversee the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has recommended the agency not make any final decisions on 22 nuclear reactor projects, including Calvert Cliffs 3, a spokesman for the NRC reported. The names I hear Hoyer and Obama called is much worse like liar and crooks.Do you know what the constitution says about illegal immigrants being deported and jail time for people who harbor and aid and abet. It doesn't say if you're over 30 you don't have to go.Obama did. In doesn't say if they don't have a criminal record they can stay in our country illegally.It cost us billions of dollars for illegals. What about Solyndra. Obama and Hoyer turns over half a billion dollars to a company that already claimed bandruptcy. What about filing a law suit because the military would have 3 extra days to vote. What about fast and furious? When Bush left office the unemployment was 4.7 and now under Obama its 8.3. It is really much higher but Obama has the labor dept use a new counting system. God Bless Mark Fisher. I wish he had called them (Obama and Hoyer )lying crooks like they deserve.

You failed to mention all of the billions that undocumented people channel into this country simply by subsisting. My statement does not excuse their residency. You need to do more homework about what Obama "actually" said about the "temporary 2 yr." reprieve for young undocumented residents who came here before a particular age and not at their choosing. - Solyndra was not bankrupt before it received a loan from the Dept. of Energy, this loan process actually started during the Bush term. It was having financial difficulties and for a whole host of reasons it did not make it (China solar panel market, expensive technology, etc.), not unlike some of the Defense Dept.'s projects over the years (ie - the Vietnam War, plane/jet technologies, the Iraq war, etc.) Go read more! - I can't believe you do not know what is going on in OHIO!!! It has had early voting for a while now. But Republican Gov. Kasick (former FOXNews dude) decided to dump the last 3 days of early voting except for the military who "traditionally vote Republican". Traditionally on the last Sunday before the election, black churches who predominately vote Democratic, have bused congregants to polling centers to vote. This is a hold over from when they were impeded from voting because of Jim Crow laws. The Obama Administration is NOT suing against military voting but is suing so that ALL Ohio residents, including the military, can vote as they have been doing. Additionally, there is currently more hanky panky going on to hinder Democrats from voting in Democratically leaning counties. PWPRATT 8/11/2012 at 8:44 PM Mark Fisher is his own man. I find it funny that we seem to enjoy dragging others into our disagreements. Del. Fisher is his own man and is entitled to his own opinion. Elected officials have the right to voice their own opinion just as the citizens do. There is no need to drag Del. O'Donnell into this. Doing so has only one goal in mind, which is to make this an issue in the Hoyer-O'Donnell race. Political party crap once again. I think the Hoyer camp and dems are worried. I also find it interesting that those people who you see posting comments on the political stories on a regular basis, criticizing Del. O'Donnell - such as Rambocast - complain about the negativity of the political process and yet they are usually the first to offer their opinion and a negative attack. I agree regarding the hate groups, in fact, it was implied that I was a racist because I do not support Pres. Obama. I don't remember being called a racist when I chose not to support Al Gore for President. But...now I'm a racist. The Dems and those on the left need to do a mirror check before offering criticism. rambocast 8/12/2012 at 2:39 PM Reply to PWPRATT: DIFFERENT STANDARDS Well "PW", you are absolutely correct about my criticism of O'Donnell, not to mention my push back against the insanity and lies that come so frequently from the Republican/Tea Party supporters who post here. But you are incorrect regarding Fisher. As an elected official in this country he should be held to a higher standard, his rhetoric is appalling! And Tony O'Donnell most certainly will be dragged into this fray, his attacks on Congressman Hoyer are reprehensible and indicative of desperation. It is this kind of rhetoric that started with the Tea Party that is tearing this country apart. The problem is that when these remarks are issued to rile the base of the uneducated, seldom do we see any honest justification behind the statements. Once again, I challenge anyone to compare the statements released by Hoyer to the statements released by O'Donnell. In fact, why not just compare the statements by the incumbents in Maryland to their opposition. If you don't think that racism and xenophobia are not involved in this election, I have a budget plan to sell you. By the way, are you racist?

ravman 8/12/2012 at 3:11 AM Hoyer must go but will not Hoyer is awful does not represent the views of southern MD. Mr.Tax and spend.In southern MD we pay most of the tax and get none of the spending. Hoyer must go but unfortuently he will not. He will lose Calvert, St.Marys, and Anne Arundle. However he will win by 30 pts again because he will get 90 percent of the African American vote in PG and Charles County. This is only because he has a D infront of his name. Maryland will stay blue until the GOP finds a way to somehow get a 30 to 40 percent chunk of the African American vote (will prob never happen). This statement by the Calvert Democratic central chair is an effort to go after Fisher as he is one of the only volunerable republican delegates in the state. If you have had enough of Hoyer the best way to fight back is to keep Fisher and vote out two of Hoyers top supporters in 2014 Roy Dyson and John Bohanan who are both going to be very volunerable. From your statements, it appears as if you think the Democrats are the only ones who have any good intentions or facts. You are just contributing to the party politics. I am a conservative Republican, but I am an American first. I believe in putting people first, not party politics. In 2010 I supported an African-American woman for county commissioner who happens to be a Democrat. I even volunteered. So I am not racist nor blinded by party loyalty. I support candidates who believe in putting people first. Do you see nothing wrong with elected officials refusing to respond to a constituent? Are you okay with Hoyer claiming he is a tax, tax, spend, spend democrat and make of it as you will? We have differences of opinions, but it does not make either of us better than the other. Have you even met or had a discussion with Hoyer? I regularly communicate with elected officials and candidates, both Democrat and Republican, not only throughout MD but the United States. Communication is imperative. So I cannot support those who ignore their constituents. That is my first objection to our leadership in MD within the Democratic party. I also like how people use the word "lies" as if it is always the other person who is not telling the truth. I am sure you are probably a decent person who happens to disagree with me. BTW, I am not alone in SOMD regarding my opinion of Hoyer. In fact, I recall several Democratic volunteers at Democratic booths in 2010 who felt the same way. Regarding Obama, I am quite disappointed with some of his comments such as those regarding businesses and that capitalism has never worked. What would you call him when he makes that statement regarding capitalism? Why is it okay for a Democrat to call citizens unAmerican or to bash a Republican, but Republicans are not allowed to label a Democrat? Both parties play this game and we play into it. And to your comment about the Tea Party tearing America apart - our country has been divided long before the Tea Party came about. Glad that you are not racist, you should be an example for many southern Maryland residents. Am also glad that you are an American first, most Americans are. Now the difference between your conservative Republican party and the Democrats, is that you do not put ALL Americans first. Unfortunately, homophobia, sexism, xenophobia, and a sprinkle of racism creates quite a potent brew. Do you really vote for candidates who put ALL people first, including the middle class? I think that most Democrats and some Independents are more than familiar with your party's feelings about Hoyer; you can start with this forum and peruse back issues of SMC newspapers. Lies? Yes, both parties put out a healthy amount of lies but I award the Tea Party folks and associates the winning trophy. Once again, read any forum, right winged-paper, blog, etc. the comparison, well, there is no comparison. I have no issues with Congressman Hoyer. Can you please show me the quote where Hoyer refers to himself as a tax, tax, spend, spend Democrat (in its entirety), just curious? So all Democratic leadership in Maryland have refused to communicate with you, wow? Why don't you attend one of several Hoyer events in St. Mary's this fall, introduce yourself and ask him personally why he has ignored you. Your opinion is that the Democrats put ALL Americans first, whereas Republicans do not. I disagree. Actually, I'm just as fed up with the Republican party on some issues as I am the Democrats. I do not believe any single party has the monopoly on a good idea. I try not to engage in dialogue involving who is telling the most lies. It's wasted effort actually. People will believe what they want. There is some truth and some dishonesty in much of what is being spread during election years. My ego is not involved, it is a core belief of mine that I should be able to communicate with my elected officials. I have even had a conversation with a state senator from a different district during a special session. I should be more clear that when speaking of MD's Democratic leadership I was referring to those in leadership positions, not all Democratic elected officials. I do have respect from some of our elected Democrats and believe they are doing a good job. The fact is, I do communicate with many elected officials, so when I get a no response continually (on an issue that the official and I have some agreement on) it does frustrate me. Regarding Obama's statement, I would have to research it again, not sure if I have a copy of the speech, but I did watch him give the speech. Please note that I am a Republican, but I do not consider myself a member of the Tea Party movement or any other such movement. My core beliefs are more in line with the Republicans so I am a registered Republican, but I have my own views based on my beliefs. I will attend a Hoyer event and hope to have an opportunity to speak with him. My first introduction to him wasn't so positive. I have also met and spoke with Governor O'Malley soon after his first election, and kept an open mind. I do respect your opinion and the fact that you are willing to use your voice rather than sit on the sidelines and remain silent. I bet, if we sat and had a discussion, we could probably find many issues that we agree upon and would probably surprise you considering that I consider myself a conservative Republican. I am one of the ones that cannot refinance my home because I followed the rules, paid my bills on time, and purchased a house within my means so none of the government programs will help me. I am not in trouble and can afford my payments but shouldn't the ones who did things right be able to benefit also. I am all for everyone achieving the American dream as long as they put in the work just like everyone else, I hate to see the government giving handouts to those who don't deserve it. The republicans scare me too because of the blatant lies I have heard from them in this nasty campaign. Romney is also completely out of touch and there is something shady about how secretive he is being with his financial records. I think the country needs a viable third party that is based on middle class values and not on religious beliefs. As long as we can all come together on most of the core issues than we would win by a landslide because the middle class makes up an overwhelming majority of the country’s population.
