State Trooper Slightly Injured in Crash

At 3:35 p.m. Tuesday, a high-ranking officer with the Leonardtown barrack of the Maryland State Police was injured when his vehicle was struck while entering the Wildewood Shopping Center from Route 235 in Hollywood.

1st Sgt. Clifford Hughes’ unmarked vehicle was hit from the side by a pickup truck near the new entrance to the shopping center build to accommodate traffic to Cheeseburger in Paradise.

The officer was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital by a Hollywood Volunteer Rescue Squad ambulance.

His injuries appeared minor at the scene, but no information has yet been obtained from police officials handling the crash.
