51-Year-Old With Learner's Permit and Coke: More Leonardtown Trooper Reports

On Saturday, July 28, at 11:30 pm, TFC Quade initiated a traffic stop on a gold Toyota Camry for failing to drive in a single lane at Route 235 and Airport Road in California. Contact was made with the driver, Charles Herman Jones, 51, of Lexington Park and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from his breath. During the course of the traffic stop Jones was arrested for DUI. An MVA check revealed Jones was operating the Toyota on an expired Learner’s permit. A search incident to arrest revealed Jones was in possession of a plastic baggie of cocaine and he was charged accordingly. The passenger, later identified as Louis Winfield Price, 50, of Great Mills was also found to be in possession of a CDS smoking device. He was also arrested for possession of CDS paraphernalia and both Jones and Price were transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bond review. On Saturday, July 22, at 1:16 am, Tpr. McCartney initiated a traffic stop at Golden Beach Road and Route 5 in Mechanicsville on a red Mercury Cougar for failing to drive in a single lane. Contact was made with the driver, Adam Christopher Gallant, 20, of Accokeek and the passenger, Moses Earl Willoughby, 3rd, 26, of Waldorf. A moderate odor of burnt marijuana was detected emitting from the vehicle. During the course of the traffic stop a partially burnt marijuana cigar was found in the vehicle. Additionally, two glass containers were also found in the vehicle containing liquid PCP. Both Gallant and Willoughby were arrested for possession of CDS and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bond review. On Sunday, July 23, at 10:52 pm, TFC Linger responded to the 23000 block of Budds Creek Road in Clements for a reported Malicious Destruction of Property. Contact was made with the victim who advised unknown subject(s) maliciously damaged his white Chevrolet S-10 rendering the vehicle inoperable. The investigation is continuing. On Wednesday, July 25, at 9:17 pm, TFC Nims responded to a reported disturbance in the 22000 block of Valley Estates Drive in Lexington Park. During the course of his investigation William Claude Jones, Jr., 21 of Ridge, was arrested for possession of marijuana and CDS paraphernalia. A wanted check through NCIC revealed Jones was wanted through the Charles County Sheriff’s Department for Violation of Probation for possession of CDS. Jones was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bond review. On Saturday, July 28, 2007 at 9:52 pm, TFC Moore responded to CiCi’s Pizza, San Souci Plaza in California for a reported malicious destruction of property to motor vehicle. Contact was made with the female victim/complainant, of Lexington Park who advised a male subject broke out both her front windshield and rear window of her 1990 Toyota Corolla. The investigation is continuing. On Sunday, July 29, 2007 at 2:19 am, TFC Rezza initiated a traffic stop on south bound Route 235 south of Route 4 in California for an equipment violation. Contact was made with the driver, Brunsie Thomas Carrington, 26, of Prince Frederick and an odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from his breath. Carrington was arrested for DUI and transported to the Leonardtown Barrack for processing where he was later released. The passenger, Timothy James Anthony Butler, 24, of Lusby, interfered with the DUI arrest of Carrington. Butler was subsequently arrested for hindering the investigation. He was also transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held pending a bond review. |
