LECTURE AND BOOK SIGNING AT PATUXENT RIVER NAVAL AIR MUSEUM FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2009 — 4:30 to 7:00 PM MEET TOMMY H. THOMASON, AUTHOR OF STRIKE FROM THE SEA: U.S. NAVY ATTACK AIRCRAFT FROM SKYRAIDER TO SUPER HORNET 1948-PRESENT The Patuxent River Naval Air Museum is pleased to announce its fifth "Flight Test Tech Talk" public program: a lecture and book signing by author Tommy H. Thomason on Friday, November 20, 2009, from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m.

Mr. Thomason will present and discuss his new book Strike From The Sea: U.S. Navy Attack Aircraft From Skyraider to Super Hornet 1948-Present, published by Specialty Press. Thomason's Strike From The Sea is a companion work to his book U.S. Naval Air Superiority: Development of Shipborne Jet Fighters 1943-1962, which was the subject of his appearance and presentation at the Museum in April 2008. Strike From The Sea: U.S. Navy Attack Aircraft From Skyraider to Super Hornet 1948-Present is a comprehensive history of carrier-based naval attack aircraft, tracing their evolution from 300-mph prop-era airplanes to advanced jets. Legendary Navy aircraft such as the AD Skyraider, the A4D Skyhawk, the A3J Vigilante, the A-6 Intruder, and the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet are surveyed in-depth, with investigations of the technologies and doctrines employed for the specialized combat role of air-to-ground attack. The book features stunning photographs of attack aircraft and aircraft carrier operations.

Tommy H. Thomason has worked as a flight test engineer, manager, and executive in the aerospace industry for almost 40 years, including two years as a flight test engineer on the F-4 Phantom. He has flown more than 3,000 hours in 60 different airplanes, helicopters, and sailplanes. His previous works include the book U.S. Naval Air Superiority and monographs on the Grumman F-111B and the Bell HSL antisubmarine warfare helicopter. This event is free and open to the public.

Please RSVP to Tom Quinlan at director@paxmuseum.com or 301-863-7418. Seating is not reserved: it is available on a first-come, first-serve basis (standing room only attendance is permitted). Lecture and Q&A: 4:45 to 6:00 p.m. Mr. Thomason will sign copies of Strike From The Sea from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The book will be available for purchase at the Museum Store throughout the event.

The Patuxent River Naval Air Museum is the only facility that preserves and presents the history of the research, development, test, and evaluation activities of U.S. Naval Aviation, and is one of 12 Official U.S. Navy Museums. Shoe Drive - Creating a Wealth of Blessings

(10/24/2009) Posted By: AMBS59

First Missionary Baptist Church, Lexington Park Maryland has a great opportunity to create a wealth of blessings for families in Africa and Haiti by encouraging family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers to bring in gently worn shoes from home; you are recycling shoes for a worthy cause. What will this cost you, just a little closet maintenance, and who doesn't have a closet with shoes that we no longer wear, fit, or need? If they don't fit, are outdated, or gently worn - DONATE THEM (No 4 inch heels or higher; no women's boots or steel toe boots) We are collecting shoes for men, women, boys, girls and yes, toddlers. • All shoes with strings must be tied in pairs • All shoes without strings must be rubber banded together in pairs Contact Audrey 240-418-8230 Thank you for participating!!!
