La Plata, MD – Billingsley Road is shut down between Livingston Road and Catchpenny Place due to downed trees and power lines.


UPDATE 7:27 p.m.

Broomes Island, MD – The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office reported a Road closure Broomes Island Road /Oyster House Road. There is a power line across the roadway.


UPDATE 1:05 p.m.

Great Mills, MD – St. Mary’s County authorities reported a tree down across the roadway at Flat Iron Road, Highway to Heaven Lane and Michelle Drive. Motorists bound for the area should use caution.


UPDATE 12:29 p.m.

Callaway, MD – St. Mary’s County authorities reported a road closure at Piney Point Road, Happyland Road and Hewitt Road due to a tree across the roadway. Motorists bound for the area should use caution. Additionally, the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office reported a motor vehicle collision on Piney Point Road and Happyland Road. Motorists should expect delays.


UPDATE 11:37 a.m.

La Plata, MD – The Charles County Sheriff’s Office reports that Hawthorne Road between Rose Hill Road and Adams Drive has been reopened. 


Earlier reports

St. Leonard, MD – The Calvert County Sheriff’s Office reports Long Beach Drive/Locust Road, Saint Leonard will be closed several hours due to a large tree in the road. The county government’s Roads Division is on scene.


Leonardtown, MD – St. Mary’s County authorities report downed trees on Seaside View Road in Ridge, Bull Road in Leonardtown, Cliff Road in Hollywood and downed wires on Jones Wharf Road in Hollywood.


La Plata, MD – 8:45 a.m. update – Road partially closed Hawthorne Rd between Rose Hill Rd and Adams Drive. Down to one alternating lane due to wires down. 

At 6 a.m. Charles County authorities reported Rose Hill Road between Hawthorne Road and Clamber Hill Place was closed due to numerous trees and power lines down.


Prince Frederick, MD – Due to a severe overnight storm authorities in three Southern Maryland counties are reporting numerous downed trees, utility poles and wires. The BayNet.com is in the process of compiling a list of roadways that are affected. 

Motorists, especially those traveling the back roads, should proceed with caution this morning.
