BeerFest (5/20/2012)
5/20/2012
- Visitor Center, St. Mary's City 12:00 PM
Cost: 20.00
Fine spring music will be provided by The Piranhas and 25th Hour Band. Participate in a variety of activities, including special tours of Van Sweringen's Ordinary (one of the first taverns of the colony); a beer making demonstration by the Hollywood Hopheads, as well as a cider making demonstration focusing on the history of cider in the colony. (in case you go to a trivia match; all cider was of the hard variety and beer came to the colony later)
Great fun requires great food! Visitors will have the opportunity to sample local cuisine; provided by Beer Creek Barbeque, Clarks Landing Restaurant and Canards. To wash it all down, taste the offerings of craft brewers; including Redhook, Widmer Bros., Kona, Goose Island, Fordham, Dominion and Star Hill.
Craft and artist vendors will be on hand throughout the day; including Sarah Houde Pottery, Custom Tees, the Happy Turner in Owings, My Cause Water, the Shoppes of Southern Maryland, Tidewater Artist, the Weekend Woodshop, Whiskey Creek Woodworks and Wood Goodies.
Fun activities for the youngsters will be found at the Kid's Tent.
Admission is $20 for tasters, $10 for designated drivers and free for children ages 12 and under. Parking is free.
