College Savings Plans of Maryland, the independent Maryland State agency that offers two tax-advantaged 529 plans - the Maryland Prepaid College Trust and the Maryland College Investment Plan - will be hosting College Savings Plans of Maryland Day at the Maryland Science Center on Saturday, May 12. As part of the day's celebration, College Savings Plans of Maryland and the Maryland Science Center will be offering free admission for the first 200 elementary school students - 5th grade and younger - to visit the museum. Admission for children ages 3 and under is always free at the Maryland Science Center. Students must visit the College Savings Plans of Maryland table located near the entrance of the Maryland Science Center to obtain their free tickets. In addition to the free admission price for elementary school graduates, information about College Savings Plans of Maryland will be available throughout the museum, and a representative will be on hand to answer any questions or give a brief overview of the plans. The May 12 event is an early celebration for National 5/29 College Savings Day (May 29), an annual celebration to raise awareness about the importance of saving for college and encourage families to consider investing in 529 plans to reduce their child's future reliance on student loans.
