8/8/2012 - School Supply Drive for Calvert's Students in Need 8:00 AM  

Children's Aid, Inc. is sponsoring a school supply drive in Calvert County for students in need. We hope the community will respond generously to ensure that children whose families are in crisis are able to return to school this fall with the tools they need to succeed in the new school year. Donations of new school supplies will be accepted at the following locations through August 8: Office Depot (Prince Frederick), Stallings-Williams American Legion Hall (Chesapeake Beach), Walgreens (Lusby), Wilson Ennis Clubhouse (Huntingtown) and World Gym (Owings). For a list of suggested donations including backpacks, pencil boxes and glue sticks, please visit Children's Aid, Inc.'s website, www.TheChildrensAid.org. Backpacks will be delivered directly to three local elementary schools: Barstow Elementary, Beach Elementary and Patuxent Elementary. Children's Aid, Inc. is also working with the Department of Social Services and a local food pantry to distribute backpacks to clients who have pre-registered with these agencies to receive the backpacks. Registration for Operation Backpack for the 2012-2013 school year has ended and we are committed to supplying a total of 60 backpacks for the upcoming school year
