The St. Clement's Island Museum in Colton's Point, MD offers water taxi service to St. Clement's Island State Park from 10 am to 12:30 pm and 1 pm to 2 pm. The water taxi offers continuous service to and from the Island with the last trip to the Island at 2 pm and the last trip back to the museum and mainland at 3:30 pm. You can hike, picnic, walk the beach, or snooze under a shade tree! Bring your honey and a blanket for a romantic picnic lunch or bring the whole family for Frisbee golf or a sand castle building competition! St. Clement's Island is a Maryland state park and offers a picnic pavilion with tables and grills, a chemical toilet, walking trails, and scenic river views and presence of waterfowl. (No camping is allowed. Picnickers should bring a plastic picnic table covering and garbage bags to take your trash back to the mainland.) St. Clement's Island is the site of Maryland's first colonial landing and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A replica of the Blackistone Lighthouse now stands on the southern end of the island near the 40-foot cross that stands as a commemoration to the first English colonists who stepped upon her shore in 1634. Interpretive panels dot the island with interesting and in-depth history. There's history! There's recreation! There's relaxation! You choose your experience! Water taxi service is dependent on weather conditions. Extreme heat, storms, high winds, lightning will cancel service. Please call the St. Clement's Island Museum at 301-769-2222 before you leave home to ensure service is available. There is a $7 fee per person which includes admission to the museum. (The museum is open daily 10 am to 5 pm through September) NOTE: Bring water, sunscreen, and bug repellent! There is a half-mile walk from the northern pier of the island to the picnic and lighthouse areas. Wear comfy walking shoes!
