The Human Resources Association of Southern Maryland (HRASM) will meet on February 20 from 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn, 13100 Dowell Road, Dowell, MD 20629. Presenters: Darryl G. McCallum and Bryan O'Keefe, attorneys with the firm Shawe and Rosenthal, a management-side labor and employment law firm located in Baltimore, MD. In this meeting, you will learn about: • The National Labor Relations Board's (NLRB) stance on non-union protected concerted activity and social media policies • Workplace repercussions for on-line actions ("Can you discipline employees for postings on Facebook?") • Your Employee Handbook rules concerning confidentiality, wage discussions, criticism of management, and "harassment" may be in violation of recent NLRB rulings • Compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act and new laws when utilizing social medical to screen applicants • Best Practices and Policies for avoiding liability The meeting is open to anyone with an interest in Human Resources issues. The cost is $36.00 for members and $41.00 for non-members, which includes both continental breakfast and lunch.
