Police Protection Fund 8/19/2009 6:47 PM EST Police Protection Fund???? I have been phone calls from Police Protection Fund. Has anyne else? Look them up and there seams to be a lot of fuss over these scammers. 301-762-6650 is the number. C

Most people don't know it, but telemarketers working for charities can't legally call you once you tell them not to. Observe the salaries being paid out of donations:

Re: Police Protection Fund 8/20/2009 8:12 AM EST { In reply to C_1_timeEMP } I hang up on any solicitations over the phone. *True Story* A co-worker had a senile uncle he was looking after, the uncle was very wealthy but starting to show symtoms of dementia. Co-worker took over his checking account and discovered that the uncle had given over 1500 a month for approximately 6 months to "Police Memorial Fund", "Retired Fireman's Fund", and assorted other 'funds' for police and firemen..Looking at the canceled checks, all were deposited to one bank account in Arizona. Co-worker called all over the place to report this scam and everyone said, well thats not our problem. Phone company, DC police, DC Fire department, the bank in question in Arizona...

They may or may not be able to do something, but it is worth a try for that much money. Also, I would try to call the State's Attorney and ask if they can do anything about it or recommend something.
