The search continues for Bina, a gray (blue) Italian Mastiff that went missing after being struck by an SUV last weekend in Prince Frederick.
The Maryland State Police and Calvert Sherriffs held a police open house Oct. 18, on Main Street, and towards the end of the event, an 18-year-old female driver ignored a police roadblock set up, and plowed into three pedestrians, two dogs and then the rear of a trailer set up for the Search and Rescue Dogs of Maryland.
The dogs and their leashes were caught underneath the front tires of vehicle. As the leashes were released, the dogs full of fear, ran off in different directions, one north and one south.
The area was searched by members of SARDOM along with Laura Totis and her trailing dog Chewy of LJT Training. The search team was able to narrow an area to be grid searched on that following Sunday Oct. 19. From that search, one of the two missing dogs was found in that area a little after 2 p.m., but Bina, remains missing.
Members of SARDOM have been searching the tri-county area for Bina for almost a week now. Bina's owners need the community support to help recover their lost family member.
Bina is a 75lb, seven-month-old gray, almost blue looking Italian Mastiff. The pup has white colored hind paws and is extremely friendly.
