On Oct. 30, at 9:49 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to a car theft in progress at the Chevy Chase Bank located at 3145 Marshall Hall Road in Bryans Road.

Investigation revealed the victim, 20, got out of her car to use the ATM when the suspect approached, jumped in her car and fled. The victim called police and provided a description of the suspect and her car.

Responding officers observed the stolen vehicle on Route 210 near Wharf Road. The driver apparently crashed the car into a guardrail and fled. Officers continued canvassing the area and spotted the suspect, Brandon Dennis Brown, 22 of Bryans Road, a short distance away.

Brown was arrested and charged with motor vehicle theft and possession of a concealed deadly weapon, after officers recovered a knife and box cutter from his pants. Officers M. Bourgeois, S. Duley and S. Plunkett made the arrest.
