Unattended Bedside Candle Blamed for Hotel Fire
WALDORF - 11/21/2008
|
The Maryland State Fire Marshall's Southern Regional Office is investigating a fire at a local hotel. Firefighters responded to 11770 Business Park Drive in Waldorf on Nov. 19, around 11 a.m., for the report of a fire in a guest room at the LaQuinta Inn and Suites. An employee of the hotel noticed the blaze and called 911. It appears the occupant of the hotel room left a candle burning unattended next to the bed, resulting in the bedding and mattress catching on fire. Members of the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department were able to bring the blaze under control. The estimated damage rings in at $2000. |
