Stolen Car Found in 50ft of Water at Local Boat Ramp

On April 23 at 6:30 a.m., officers responded to the Marshall Hall boat ramp in Bryans Road for the report of a vehicle in the water.

The Bryans Road Fire Department and Dive Team responded and located the car in about 50 feet of water; only the roof was visible. Dive personnel conducted a search and determined the vehicle, a 2005 Chevrolet Impala, was not occupied.

A computer check revealed the car had been reported stolen in Prince Georges County earlier in that morning.

Officer R. Gilroy is investigating.

The title and article both state the car was found in 50 ft. of water, with the roof visible.

When you say "50 ft. of water" I picture water 50 ft. deep. That would make this a VERY tall Chevy Impala to have the roof visible.

How about the car was found 50 ft. from shore?

I'd imagine if they used a dive team the car was in deep water. I don't get how it would be visible though.

The dive team is used for all water rescues, regardless of depth. They have the equipment for extended time in the water.
