UPDATE: Crime Solvers Seeking Info in Prince Frederick Bomb Threat

On August 14 at 9:27 a.m., an unknown male caller phoned the Circuit Court in Prince Frederick. The male advised “There’s a bomb” and made no further statement before hanging up.  Calvert County Sheriff’s Office deputies and troopers from the Maryland State Police Barrack “U” arrived.  By 9:45 a.m., the Circuit Court building was evacuated with the assistance of special deputies of the Sheriff’s Office assigned to the court.  The State Highway Administration diverted traffic away from the area and adjacent businesses.  The Annapolis City Fire Department and Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office Explosive Detection K-9’s responded to the scene at 10:15 a.m.  An “all clear” notification was given at 11:15 a.m.

As is usually the case, the bomb threat called into the Prince Frederick Court House complex succeeded in that whoever called in the threat disrupted the lives of many and at great expense to the citizens.

At 9:38 a.m. on Friday, August 14, Police were notified of the threat and the court house was evacuated. Fire departments were called to the area.The police and public safety division keep the Fire Department at a distance.

The first fire company from Prince Frederick was held down on Duke Street and all the other companies were held in the parking lot of Calvert County Market shopping center.

The fire departments were released from scene about 20 to 30 minutes after the call came out. The Sheriff Department and other law enforcement agencies continue the investigation.
