On August 14 at 9:27 a.m., an unknown male caller phoned the Circuit Court in Prince Frederick. The male advised “There’s a bomb” and made no further statement before hanging up. Calvert County Sheriff’s Office deputies and troopers from the Maryland State Police Barrack “U” arrived. By 9:45 a.m., the Circuit Court building was evacuated with the assistance of special deputies of the Sheriff’s Office assigned to the court. The State Highway Administration diverted traffic away from the area and adjacent businesses. The Annapolis City Fire Department and Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office Explosive Detection K-9’s responded to the scene at 10:15 a.m. An “all clear” notification was given at 11:15 a.m. Det. Nicholas DeFelice of the Criminal Investigative Team is handling the investigation and can be contacted at 410-535-2800 ext. 2669. For possible reward, call Crime Solvers at 410-535-2880. Anonymous calls are accepted. As is usually the case, the bomb threat called into the Prince Frederick Court House complex succeeded in that whoever called in the threat disrupted the lives of many and at great expense to the citizens. |
