Lt. Richard Malmstrom, chaplain for Naval Support Activity South Potomac, participated in the Celebrity Reader program at the St. Charles Children’s Learning Center at the College of Southern Maryland.

Malmstrom read “I Like Me” by Nancy Carlson and “Tiptoe! Tiptoe!” by John Archambault to more than two dozen three- and four-year-olds as well as “Happy Birthday America” by Mary Pope Osbourne and “Looking for Uncle Louie on the 4th of July” by Kathy Whitehead to a group of school-age students in the center’s summer day camp program.

“As a father I recognize the importance of reading, and reading at an early age” said Malmstrom. CSM features Celebrity Readers throughout the year to help promote a love of reading with its youngest students.

The St. Charles Children’s Learning Center provides quality childcare and a safe learning environment for the children of students, faculty, staff and community.
