Police, fire and emergency medical service personnel have been kept busy on two different weekends at Maryland International Raceway and Potomac Motor Speedway for stabbing victims, both of which had to be flown out.

On Saturday, August 15 at about 9:22 p.m. Maryland State Police and Mechanicsville EMS and Fire responded to MIR for a reported stabbing. Once authorities arrived, they discovered a single male patient with stab wounds in the chest. The patient was flown out on Trooper 7 to PG Shock Trauma.

No word yet on any arrests or on the condition of the victim.

Less than a week later, on Friday, August 21 at approximately 11:29 p.m. authorities again responded to a reported stabbing; this time at Potomac Motor Speedway, located at 27963 Budds Creek Road in Budds Creek – just west of MIR.

When EMS units from Mechanicsville arrived on the scene, they discovered a single male patient suffering from a stab wound to the chest. The victim was treated and again airlifted to PG Shock Trauma on Trooper 7.

In that case an arrest was made. St. Mary’s County Sheriff Deputies that responded to the scene discovered that a 15-year-old, juvenile male from Chesapeake Beach was involved in a verbal altercation with the victim. That altercation escalated into a physical fight.

The juvenile produced a knife and stabbed the victim. The juvenile was located, arrested and charged with first and second-degree assault. No word on the status of the victim at this time.
