A/C Glitch Causes Southern Middle School to Transfer Students

Because the air conditioning is not working at Southern Middle School in Calvert County and temperatures in the school building are rising, all Southern Middle School students are being transported to Patuxent High school at 1:00 p.m.  Southern Middle students will remain at Patuxent High for the remainder of the school day and will be transported home on their regular busses.

It is anticipated that because the Southern Middle School afternoon bus runs will take longer than usual, some of the afternoon busses transporting students at Barstow, Dowell, Patuxent, St. Leonard and Appeal elementary schools this afternoon will be running 15 to 20 minutes later than usual.

In the event that a decision is made to close Southern Middle School on Friday, August 28, CCPS will notify local and regional TV and radio stations, send emails to subscribers of our notification system, and post the information on Calvert Public School's  website.
