Bluegrass for Hospice Music Festival Featured Some Great Entertainers
GREAT MILLS - 10/27/2009
|
On Saturday October 24, there was a Bluegrass music show to raise funds for the first ever Hospice House in St. Mary’s County. Presented and coordinated by Jay Armsworthy, the “Bluegrass for Hospice” was held at the Flat Iron Farm on Flat Iron Road in Great Mills, with many local Bluegrass bands providing entertainment beginning at Noon. The festivities kicked off at 7 a.m. with an Arts & Crafts Fair. Then at Noon the Bluegrass began with some of Southern Maryland’s finest Bluegrass bands including: David Norris, Recent Addition, Jack Tippett Band, Zekiah Swamp Cats, Bubby Abell & Spoon Creek, Jay Armsworthy & Eastern Tradition, Joey Tippett & the California Ramblers, and Charlie Thompson & Bottom County Bluegrass. There was also a Guest Star Appearance by Rounder Recording Artist Danny Paisley & the Southern Grass from Pennsylvania. In addition to the great Bluegrass music, there were lots of other things to do throughout the day with many vendors, 50/50 Raffles, many Door Prizes, and items available for Silent Auction. All proceeds for this day are donated by Flat Iron Farms to the Hospice House of St. Mary’s. TheBAYNET.com was there to record all the fun. Take a look at the accompanying pictures to see if anyone you know was "Caught in the Net!"
