St. Mary's County Library Director Appointed by Gov. O'Malley to Represent MD
MARYLAND - 9/19/2009
|
Governor Martin O’Malley recently appointed St. Mary’s County Library Director Kathleen Reif to serve as a member of the State Advisory Council on Early Childhood Education and Care until July 30, 2011. She will represent Maryland’s public libraries. This Advisory Council will coordinate efforts among the early childhood care and education programs, conduct needs assessments concerning early childhood education and development programs, and develop a statewide strategic report regarding early childhood education and care. “Parents are their child’s first and most important teacher,” states Reif. “The public library is filled with free materials and expertise to help them in this very important role. I look forward to working with this council so that libraries can be even more effective in reaching families across the state.”
