On Oct. 31 from 1 to 5 p.m., St. Mary's Square in Lexington Park will hold its Fall Festival with fun and important activities for the whole family. During the festival, there will be live entertainment, trick or treating, a costume contest, health screenings, line dance lessons and a whole more.

“Our goal is to not just hand out candy, but to give something back to the community,” said Mary Dotson, proprietor of Sports Paradise located in the Square. Readers of TheBAYNET.com might remember that they were instrumental in the very existence of Sports Paradise. A few months back Dotson desired to change the name of her store, XH Sports and used TBN readers to pick a new name with a contest.

At the Fall Festival House of Dance of Hollywood (http://www.thehouseofdance..org ) there will be providing free line dance lessons. There will also be performances by the Boot Scooters of Southern Maryland (www.bootscootersofsomd.com) .

Throughout the afternoon the merchants of St. Mary’s Square will hold a coat drive for United Way, and the offer the Ident-A-Kids program to provide free ID cards for each child in attendance.

“We will also be helping Great Mills High School with their food pantry drive,” aid Dotson.

The St. Mary’s Square Merchants have worked with many community organizations to help improve the area in which they serve and according to Dotson, the group wanted to provide a fun day for area residents and patrons of their businesses.
