Citizen’s who have recently received an automated telephone call stating their debit/credit card has been deactivated and to reactivate the card they are requested to provide their card number and their Personal Identification Number to have the card re-activated, are asked to call the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at 1-877-382-4357 and follow the instructions provided.

For phones with a Caller I.D. feature, make note of the telephone number the call is being received from as you will be asked to provide the number if known.  Citizens may also contact the State Attorney General’s Office at 1-888-743-0023 to file a complaint regarding what is commonly know as “ROBO CALLS” (calls which are computer generated).

Citizens are reminded to never provide any personal information to anyone until such time as they are able to verify the identity of the person requesting the information. Banking institutions, credit card companies, etc.., generally do not ask you for your account information or credit/debit card number as the information is readily available to them.
