Boaters Threatened, Chased by Man Brandishing Handgun on Nearby Pier

On Oct. 22, at approximately 10:40 p.m., the Department of Natural Resources Police contacted the MSP Leonardtown Barrack in regards to a shooting that took place on the pier of a residence located at 43324 Riverside Dr., in Hollywood, around at 8 p.m.

Victims John Linwood Trossbach Jr. and Nicholas Steven Clarke were boating in the Patuxent River approximately 500 to 1000 yards off shore of the above residence.

The suspect, Brian Egan Dalsey, 47 from the above address was observed standing on the pier brandishing a black handgun.  The victims observed Dalsey firing into the water at approximately 20 feet off the pier.  A brief verbal altercation took placed between the victims and Dalsey.  As the victims were driving away from Dalsey, he jumped into a boat located near the pier and began to drive towards the victims.

Dalsey approached the victims in his boat and again, pointed a small black handgun at them demanding that they leave.

Dalsey fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement.

Later the same day BCI detectives executed two search and warrants at the above residence. 

That evening, Dalsey was located at his residence and was taken into custody.  He was transported to the St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations for questioning.  He was later transported to the County Detention Center.  He was served with an open warrant, charging him with two counts of first-degree assault.  Dalsey is incarcerated pending a hearing with the District Court Commissioner.
