UPDATE 5 P.M. -  On Oct. 27, at approximately 7:03 a.m., members of the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division responded to Rt. 235 just south of Wickshire Drive in Lexington Park for the report of a head on motor vehicle collision.

The first units arriving on the scene found the operator of one of the vehicles to be deceased and immediately requested that collision reconstructionist respond to the scene. Members from the Sheriff's Office Collision Reconstruction Team responded and assumed the investigation. Preliminary investigation revealed a 1990 Honda Civic, operated by Charles Henry Wills Jr., 42 of Lexington Park, had been traveling S/B on Rt. 235 when for an unknown reason crossed the center line and struck a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer operated by Elizabeth Parish, 65 of Lexington Park. As a result of injuries sustained in the crash Mr. Wills was pronounced dead on the scene.

Anyone that may have seen the crash is asked to contact Corporal Doug Mills at (301) 475-4200 ext. 1984. The crash remains under investigation.

UPDATE 7:43 A.M. - Two vehicles were involved in an accident this morning resulting in one fatality and one serious injury. Because of inclement weather, Trooper 7 could not fly out the surviving patient. Units from Bay District and Lexington Park along with other emergency workers responded to the scene.

The victim of the SUV was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate this accident. Both lanes of Route 235 are closed, traffic is being diverted onto Poplar Ridge Road while the investigation continues. Route 235 is expected to be closed for an extended time for accident reconstruction.

TBN is en route to the scene of a very bad accident on 235 in the area of Poplar Ridge Rd. What is known at this time is that there are multiple injuries and possibly at least one fatality. More information will be provided as it is made available.
