At approximately 1 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1 authorities responded to what can only be classified as a strange incident that occurred on Winding Way in Lord Calvert Trailer Park in Great Mills. Police received multiple calls for pedestrians being struck, numerous fights and vehicles being struck.

St. Mary’s County Deputy Sheriffs along with Maryland State Police responded to the scene. When the authorities first arrived, the exit from Winding Way was closed. The alleged vehicle that struck pedestrians and other vehicles, was reported as having left the scene. Witnesses report that the vehicle had been attacked at a party.

In a manner of minutes other emergency responders were on the scene. There were three pedestrians claiming injuries – one with a foot run over, one with a bleeding leg and a third with unknown injuries. One was transported to the hospital.

There were also three to four other vehicles that had apparently been struck. Based on witness statements, an alert was put out for a Toyota Camry with no mirrors, The car was spotted on Great Mills Road and police stopped the vehicle on FDR Blvd in front of the movie theater.

The juvenile was arrested for driving without a license and drug violations. More charges are pending. Because of the confusing nature of this incident, MSP is handling the investigation into traffic stop and drugs and SMCSO officers are investigating the hit and run with injuries.
