SOUTHERN MARYLAND - 11/17/2009

For a consecutive offseason, the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs will be hosting a holiday season breakfast featuring the Atlantic League’s number one mascot, Pinch!  Billed as Breakfast With “Santa Claws,” this is the perfect holiday outing for families who love the fun of Blue Crabs baseball.  Surprisingly, Pinch’s beard grows in white and he stopped shaving weeks ago in preparation for this event.  He’s also been spotted picking his red suit up from the dry cleaners.

Scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 12 from 8 a.m. until Noon, the event includes a French toast breakfast in the Legends Club at Regency Furniture Stadium, tours of the ballpark, hot chocolate and a photo op with “Old Saint Pinch!”  Selected Blue Crabs merchandise will also be 25% off at the Crab Shack Team Store during Breakfast With “Santa Claws.”  Tickets are five dollars apiece in advance, and six dollars at the door the day of the event.  To purchase tickets, please contact Blue Crabs Marketing Manager Courtney Freeland at (301) 374-1130 or e-mail cfreeland@somdbluecrabs.com

Breakfast with Santa Claws will also feature a Greater Waldorf Jaycees Toys for Tots Drive. The Greater Waldorf Jaycees distributes new, unwrapped toys to children up to 18 years of age each Christmas. The best donations are sporting goods, toy cars/planes/boats, dolls, board games, books, bicycles, scooters, puzzles, models, hand-held video games and small electronics. The Greater Waldorf Jaycees discourage stuffed animals as they are difficult to keep clean.

“It’s always a good time when ‘Santa Claws’ shows up, and this holiday event is annually one of the top highlights of our offseason,” said Freeland.  “It’s just a great way for families to spend time together a couple weeks before the holidays, and the involvement of Toys for Tots is so important as a charitable effort in our area.  We expect another large turnout, and urge fans to reserve their tickets right away.”

The Tri-County Youth Services Bureau is hosting this event in conjunction with the Blue Crabs. Tri-County Youth Services Bureau, Inc. is a youth services bureau established in 1971 as a community-based nonresidential entity to provide delinquency prevention, youth suicide prevention, drug and alcohol prevention, and youth development services to youth and their families. Youth Services Bureaus work to ameliorate conditions that breed delinquency, youth suicide, drug and alcohol abuse, and family disruption.
