Recycle Today to Save Tomorrow
11/10/2010
St. Mary’s County is joining thousands of other recyclers across the country to celebrate America Recycles Day on Monday, November 15 by pledging to recycle, buy recycled products and conserve natural resources.
St. Mary’s County is helping to raise the consumer awareness of completing the recycling loop through the purchase of products and packaging made from recycled-content materials. St. Mary’s County residents can also support America Recycles Day by pledging to step up their own effort to recycle and buy recycled. Residents can make their pledges via www.americarecyclesday.org
The Board of County Commissioners for St. Mary’s County reminds citizens of the County’s Single-Stream recycling program located at the six Convenience Centers and St. Andrews Landfill. You can mix your newspaper, magazines, catalogs, cereal boxes, mixed paper, phone books, old corrugated cardboard, plastics coded #1 through #7, glass, aluminum and steel containers into the same recycling container(s).
Remember that mulch is still available to all County residents free of charge while supplies last! The mulch is located at the St. Andrews Landfill on St. Andrews Church Road (MD Route 4), Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please bring a shovel, pitchfork or similar hand tool to load the mulch and a tarp to cover your load, if necessary.
We challenge you to tell at least five friends that recycling is one of the easiest things they can do to help the environment. Recycling tips can be found at www.americarecyclesday.org or at the county’s website at www.stmarysmd.com (click on For Residents, then on Recycling). For more information about St. Mary’s County’s recycling efforts, visit the web page or call (301) 863-8400.
