As one of the oldest continual Baptist parishes in Maryland, Nanjemoy Baptist Church has a rich history and heritage that serves as a testament to the legacy of faith in Southern Maryland.

The history of NBC begins not in Maryland but Virginia. Around 1790, William Fristoe, Jeremiah Moore, Andrew Leach and Henry Hagan began to cross the Potomac from Virginia and preach to the residents of Maryland. Despite persecution for their beliefs, the men continued to proselytize their beliefs and planted a Baptist church in Nanjemoy, which officially became a part of the Ketoctin Association in Virginia. In America, this was the eighteenth century center for Calvinistic Baptists, who are also known as Reform Baptists. The faith stems from the latter years of The Reformation when Protestantism was established in Europe.
Down through the years, from Europe to Virginia in America, then from Virginia to Nanjemoy in Charles County, Maryland, NBC is the culmination of centuries of Protestant faith. It celebrated its two-hundredth anniversary in 1993, making it almost as old as the United States.
Though the church is steeped in historical significance, it still continues to be a real impact on the community of Charles County through its many ministries, such as Hands Across Nanjemoy, a service project that takes place in the summer. The church also has ongoing ministries throughout the year. Team Kid, Acteens, Girls in Action, Women on a Mission and Softball Ministry are just some of the ministries available to church attendees.
As a historical church keeping up with contemporary times, NBC has a website designed to meet the needs of busy Southern Maryland residents. Sermons are available online for members and attendees that may have missed church or who wish to hear the sermon again. There is also and online directory for staff members should they need to be contacted as well as links to other churches affiliated with NBC and an email link to make prayer requests.  There is also a Bible search that provides complete access to scripture by typing in phrases and keywords or specific books of the Bible.
Sunday morning worship at NBC is at 11am, with Sunday School at 9:45 am. Evening worship on Sundays is at 7 pm, and specialty group meetings such as Youth, TeamKID and Acteens meet throughout the week. Christmas Candlelight Worship Service is on December 19 at 7 pm.
