SMECO Sponsors Knowledge Quiz for Elementary Schools
2/8/2011
SMECO recently hosted an online general knowledge quiz for more than 350 students who participated in the 17th Annual Elementary School Knowledge Bowl. Forty-six teams of fourth- and fifth-graders from 27 elementary schools in Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s counties competed in the event.
The Elementary Knowledge Bowl quiz tested the students’ knowledge of mathematics, history, grammar, current affairs, and other subjects. Working in teams of six, competitors used school computers to access an online test created by SMECO to solve problems and answer questions. Teams were given one hour to complete the 75-question quiz. At the conclusion of the competition, SMECO posted the overall results, as well as results by county, on its web site.
The Elementary Knowledge Bowl is sponsored by SMECO and the Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s county school systems.
