School Bus Involved in Head-on Collision

Authorities in St. Mary's County are investigating a head-on collision involving a school bus that left one person critically injured.
Fire and Rescue crews responded to an accident with entrapment along Doctor Johnson Road at the intersection of Blossom Drive in Helen shortly after 12:15 p.m. on Feb. 15.
Investigation revealed an unoccupied school bus and a Ford Pickup truck had collided with one patient trapped inside the pickup truck.
Rescue crews worked to remove the roof and steering wheel to free the trapped driver in less than twenty minutes.
The patient was flown to Prince George's Shock Trauma while the operator of the school bus refused treatment.
No word yet on the cause of the crash. The accident remains under investigation.
