On Saturday, July 23 at 7:52 p.m. members of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of a single vehicle crash on Cox Road in Huntingtown about a tenth of mile in off Md. Rt. 4.Jonathan R. Smither, 34 of St. Leonard, had been operating a 2001 Harley Davidson Springer motorcycle and failed to negotiate a left turn.The motorcycle left the roadway to the right and rolled over four times.Smither was ejected and came to rest adjacent to the bike.Smither was wearing a helmet that came off during the crash.He was transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital by members of the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department where he succumbed to his injuries.The crash is being investigated by Cpl. A. Moschetto of the Crash Reconstruction Team.
