Pax River Raiders Loses Friend, Shows Some Love
Lexington Park, MD - 8/9/2011
By Toni Byrd
On August 1st a husband lost his wife, three children lost their mother, and the Pax River Raiders lost a friend. Mrs. Felicia Shands passed away unexpectedly. She has been a coach for the league and a friend to many. She leaves behind her husband William and three children Christin, William, and Elijah.
On Friday the Raiders showed some love by coming together to collect donations to help with the Shands family. The league president, Harold Berg, and other staff members gathered around a grill at Lancaster Park and made food for the football players, cheerleaders, and family members. No money was charged for the food. A donation jar was placed at the end of the table. The jar filled as the evening went on. The total at the end of the night was $433.26.
The Raiders are still accepting donations to help the Shands family. If you would like to donate please email paxriverraiders@gmail.com to see how you can help.
