Man Injured on Port Tobacco River While Boating

On August 20, 2011 at 2:48 pm., NRP responded to investigate a personal watercraft accident that occurred in the Port Tobacco River. The investigation revealed that Norman Linwood Vassar Jr., of Waldorf was operating the vessel when he struck a wave and lost control of the vessel. Vassar was thrown from the vessel and then struck by it. He was flown to Prince Georges Hospital and treated for chest injuries.
