BREAKING NEWS: Murder in Lexington Park

Lexington Park, MD - 8/25/2011

On August 24, 2011 at 11:38 P.M. police units responded to the area of Sell Drive, Lexington Park in St. Clement's Crossing, Maryland for the report of a motor vehicle striking a tree.Upon police arrival it was determined the operator of the vehicle, Deandre Agustus Hawkins, age 20, of Lexington Park had a gunshot wound in his upper torso.Hawkins was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.The St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations and the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team are continuing an investigation into this incident.

One of our young neighbors was murdered in an act of senseless violence, and you make jokes? This young man has friends and family who are no doubt devestated by this tragedy. Please show them the same respect as you would expect had the murder victim been your own son.

I normally don't respond to the ignorance on here, but I had to comment on "Watchout." People kill me how they are so quick to judge, not knowing the whole story. No one knows what happened, don't let his name fool you, for all we know this young man could have been home on leave from serving over in the middle east and may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time. ….Hell at one point he may have been standing beside one of your sons. When you assume you will make an azz of yourself. I don't know the young man…but may he rest in peace. NO ONE KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED….so STOP with all the NEGATIVITY.
You need to sit back and pray for a safe return for your sons!!! God forbid anything happen to them while in the Middle East and the baynet publishes their story and some ignorant person comes online and says "Well if he had never been goofing off or drinking the night before, he would have seen that missile coming to get out the way" How would that make you feel?
Now maybe you can finish the 10oz bud that you have in your hand right now, because it is obvious you are sipping on something.

Feel bad "nope" my sons are off in the middle east doing their job while people back here want to pay wild west with their guns and violence. Drug deal gone bad, wrong place wrong time just a bunch of B.S. Thank goodness some poor guy or girl driving home from work wasn't hit by this person and it was just a tree. How about some sadness for the poor saplings that lost their mother or father. I thought the new streetscape beautification project would have prevented things like this from happening. Maybe we need even more brick sidewalks on Great Mills Rd.

You know anybody that is making jokes about this is pretty sick. That man has a mother and he has people who are truely suffering due to his death. And nothing he could have ever done was deserving of the sentence that one person gave to him. But to the person who did this garbadge, God knows what you have done and you will pay on judgement day you better believe it!!!!

The people making jokes about someone dying really NEED TO GROW UP!! Who cares if this is shocking or not. This is still a sad situation. You need to think about Deandre's friends and family who read these comments your making. What kind of person are you? You are supposed to be an adult, but your on here acting like a child... No, I can't say a child, because my 7 year old would never turn someones death into a joke.

I don't know Deandre personally, but when I first heard about the shooting I almost cried. No one deserves to die that way, nor do their family/friends deserve to be desrepected while grieving. May he rest in peace.

You know I knew Gus and his mother is a really good friend of mine. It doesnt matter what Gus did really. That boy was only 20 years old.He had his whole life ahead of him. I pray that his soul is able to rest in peace, and his mother is able to go on. Jokes about his or anyone elses death are just plain un acceptable. how can people be so cruel. I have a 18 year old son and when I heard of the shooting I wanted to throw up. And have been physically sick over the whole thing. My heart absolutely aches for him and his mother. I couldnt even imagine what she must be going threw. I would die if it were one of my children.

Rest in peace sweet boy. You will not be forgotten. And for his mom, I will keep you in my prayers. Know I am here for you no matter what.

and for the ones who think its cool to make fun or be ignorent, shame on you!!

i knew Guss as well as everyone i know and there are alot and i mean alot of his family and friends that are completely torn apart by his murder! and these people sit here cracking jokes! how would they feel if it were their son if it was their friend or family member!!! Dre was young and may have made some stupid decisions like everyone else does because noone is perfect but Dre didnt deserve to die and the ignorant a**holes making cruel and unneccesary comments really need to grow the hell up!!!!

No matter what he was doing..Even if it was buying drugs (which was an assumption) he didn't deserve to have his life taken, just like his family doesn't deserve to have to read your ignorant azz comments. God bless your sons for serving in our military, I pray for their safe return but if something should happen to one of them and the baynet post a story about their death you may want to..WATCHOUT....more than likely people will show the same respect to you and your family as your are showing them.. To those of you who have chosen to make our loved ones death a joke we forgive you...because you know not what you do. In this moment yes even in this moment while we grieve for loss of our son, cousin, grandson we also forgive. None of you know the circumstances by which this happened as mentioned in many of these posts he nor do you deserve to die in such a manner. As for all the ignorant comments....my son was a loving, caring and giving young man...evryone that knows him is havinga horrible time believing him. They have held a candle light vigil and owners of business have contacted me and are having benefits for him that they are doing because he touched a part of thier lives they will never forget...someone that has that much respect from the community. His friends are devasted because of the wisdom that he has left upon them..and as for me, he was my only son, my only child, that has never given me a day of grief, worry or shame! He made me the proudest parent in the whole wide world! He was murdered over jealousy, unnecessary drama, and like any handsome, responsible young man was wanted by plenty of females!Any one that came across DEONDRE loved him! He deserves justice for this hate crime....please anyone who has any information contact St Marys County Sheriff Dept. And as for this being a drug related muder, you are wrong. If you read the article, nothing about drugs was mentioned. Actually there ws nothing in that article negative mentioned about my son, the greates loving, caring young 20 yr old man that would of only created a positive and loving atmosphere aroung everyone including you!!!

MY heart goes out to you. I didn't know your son, my daughter told me about this and I saw his fb page. He was very handsome. The first thing that came to my mind was "haters" that who did it haters. The sad thing is if he had a county name like billy bob or some hick name he would't be even related to drugs. I lived here all my life and anytime a brother is killed that's the first things that come out of these hicks mouth. GROW up people..live by the sword die by the sword my ass how can someone say that when you don't know how he lived...How about quoting this" He who judge, will be JUGED".STAY STRONG MOM. my son was murdered on 8/24 and as of today 12/13, no one has been aqrrested, no warrants have even been issued for person of interest, i dont understand what the police are doing.....please someone help to get an arrest for my son. i read all these negative comments and i just know it comes from people who did not know him or myself. they must be related to the ones who killed my son, and i pity them....its got to be hard to live with knowing you have a family member who murdered a young man for absolutely no reason....my son never robbed folks, never took from anyone, and its turning out to be a hate crime, which i cant seem to understand.....but i can only pray and leave it to god, but believe this, its been the hardest thing i have ever had to live with and i am still here because i am fighting for justice so when people ask me how do i do it, i do it for him, i lived 20 plus years for him, conditioning him, but when someone is arrested for maliciously killing him, thats when people need to ask me how do i do it, cause right now i am still a mother fighting for they child, afterwards there is no words, reason or rhyme for being here...i miss and love him very much....

Maybe "COMMENTS" should be removed
I'm thinking "Comments" should be removed from TheBayNet. The majority are horribly insensitive and just plain ignorant, naive statements. Unless TheBayNet can monitor comments, what's the point of allowing mean hateful words that simply cause a terrible negative ripple effect as some of these have. Comments need only be respectful, helpful or encouraging. If they cannot, I say take the "Comments" option off TheBayNet.

Everyone is on here talking about the wrong thing. Why haven't anyone been talking about telling on the person or persons who did this. Someone out there knows who did this and instead of worrying about being called a "SNITCH" you should come forward and become a good citizen.

Obviously the person that did it probably didn't tell anyone(if he was smart) because there are always rewards for info to crimes such as this and the type of people in that part of the county would be more than happy to come forward with info for some money in return to pay for some more heroin or crack.
What needs to be done in general is a crack down on anyone at all the is connected to drugs/distribution and give long-hard sentences instead of letting them roam free to hang out with a buddy, get pissed over some 'whack' drugs, and shoot him in the chest while driving down the road.
Second, your grammar and word usage just strengthens the stereo-type of people from Great Mills area- whether black or other
