AMG! It's Artsfest!
SOLOMONS, MD - 9/19/2011
By Marty Madden
The 18th annual “Artsfest” was held at Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center in Solomons Saturday, Sept. 17 and Sunday, Sept. 18.
According to a press release, the event is held at the facility to commemorate the birth anniversary of its co-founder, Annmarie Koenig.
This year’s festival featured displays by over 150 artists from all over the country. Items such as pottery, jewelry, paintings, prints, photography and woodwork were on display.
The event featured continuous live entertainment with virtually every genre of music—folk, jazz, country and rock—showcased at two separate venues.
A variety of food and beverages were on sale by local vendors and wineries.
Annmarie Garden (AMG) is affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution. The sculpture garden has on display over 30 works on loan from the Smithsonian.
Several of the vendors teach classes at AMG’s Studio School.
The next big event at AMG is “Halloween in the Garden” Saturday, Oct. 22. Last year the four-hour Halloween party attracted thousands of visitors and included a “trick-or-treating” parade for children.
