Activist Artist Margaret Adams Parker Displays Work at CSM
9/28/2011
Activist artist Margaret Adams Parker is exhibiting her collection ‘Lament for Our World: Woodcuts, Etchings and Sculpture’ in College of Southern Maryland’s Tony Hungerford Memorial Art Gallery located in the Fine Arts Center on the La Plata Campus through Oct. 23. Adams Parker chooses her subjects based on a representation of the combination of beauty and sadness. Her laments are responses to individual acts and events that often times display suffering and terror. Her work is an invitation to the audience to look at the world through her eyes, hands, heart and mind. She executes the majority of her work as woodcuts. The medium is appealing to her because it is direct and simple and creates the ability to make multiples. The gallery is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. For information, visit www.csmd.edu/Arts
The Fine Arts Center is accessible to patrons with disabilities. Audio description for the visually impaired and sign language interpretation for the hearing impaired are available with a minimum two week advance notice. If you are interested in these services please contact the Coordinator of ADA at 301-934-7614.
